Treatments are free of charge, but there is usually a waiting list for Outpatients.

- Hand Therapy.
- Respiratory assessment / treatment.
- Hyperventilation syndrome.
- Women’s Health such as stress incontinence.
- Neurological conditions.
- Amputees.
- Pulmonary rehabilitation.
- Orthopaedic rehabilitation.
- Mobility assessments for walking aids.
Referral information
For outpatient physiotherapy a referral from your healthcare provider or specialist. The department needs to view the referral before they are able to process the referral.
Community physiotherapy services
The Allied Health community physiotherapy service provides community based services for conditions not covered by ACC.
These are short-term interventions to address mobility issues or education about physical management, including for respiratory conditions.
Criteria for community based service is:
the person is unable to access outpatient services, or their need is specifically related to home environment.
Community Rehabilitation Service (CRS) operates within this and the occupational therapy teams. You may be visited in your home to develop a rehabilitation programme with achievable goals. The team can also refer you on to other services such as social work, dietetics, and speech-language therapy as needed. A referral from a health professional is required.

Referral information
Referrals to the community physiotherapy service are through:
- your healthcare provider
- specialist (hospital or private)
- allied health service
- other agencies.
GP referrals are accepted through the RMSLite e-referral system - 'Community Allied Health Referral'
Email all other referrals to the relevant hospital.
