A range of dental care options are available in Hawke's Bay by Health NZ staff and dental practitioners.
Hospital Dental Services
The Hospital Dental Service provides dental services to people with medical problems and disabilities affecting their access to dental services, including:
- oral surgery
- special needs
- paediatric
- general dentistry.
The service also provides a limited amount of low-income dentistry within available resources, and it supports and works closely with the maxillo-facial service.
The service provides a 24/7 on-call service through the Hawke’s Bay Hospital Emergency Department.
Hospital Dental Services are located at Harding Hall Hawke's Bay Hospital, and Dental Clinics at Napier Health.

Community Oral Health Services
The Community Oral Health Service is a publicly funded service for all Hawke's Bay tamariki up to 17 years of age.
The service provides preventative, restorative and educational services.
There are 8 Community Dental Clinics throughout Hawke's Bay and 8 mobile units. Services to rangatahi (school year 9 to 18 years old) are provided by the service and contracted to local general dentists.
