Services open, reduced or closed

Services at Tauranga and Whakatane Hospitals are reduced to a minimum for the five-day national strike commencing at 8am on Monday 29 April and ending on Saturday 4 May at 8am.

This industrial action means that we have greatly reduced numbers of junior doctors on our wards.

This means that only Emergency and essential services are available at Tauranga and Whakatane Hospitals for urgent medical care.

We have reduced the demand on services and reduced patient numbers, by postponing our non-essential, non-acute and elective procedures.

If you had planned surgery or had an outpatient's appointment which has been postponed and want to talk to someone please call our Patient Line 0800 333 477 between 8.00am and 5.00pm weekdays.

Our priority is ensuring we keep everyone safe - patients and staff alike - and that means significant disruption to normal services.

All services remain open at Whakatane Hospital.
