Bay of Plenty District Health Board is a Crown entity, responsible for funding and providing health and disability support services for the 200,000 people living in the Bay of Plenty district.

Visiting hours at Whakatane and Tauranga Hospitals are from 2pm – 8pm daily.

Visitors who arrive after 8pm when the hospital doors have been locked will not be admitted, except under special circumstances. Visiting hours are limited to allow patients to rest sufficiently, as this greatly aids their recovery. Visitors of patients to ICU or CCU are the exception.

If visitors arrive after 8pm requesting entry, security staff will ring the relevant ward and clinical staff will decide whether visiting is appropriate for the patient.
