Medical Staffing Unit

General information

The Medical Staffing Unit comprises one office and two staff based at Tauranga Hospital and one office and two staff based at Whakatane Hospital. This unit is responsible for recruiting SMOs, RMOs (Registrars and House Officers), MOs (Medical Officers). The placement of trainee interns, elective and selective students and those undertaking summer studentships (formerly handled by this unit) is now administered by the BOP Clinical School.

The Resident Medical Officers year in New Zealand differs from that in other countries. The house officer year runs from the end of November to the end of November each year. The registrar year runs from mid December to mid December.
