Anaesthesia and Surgical Services

This service is managed by a Medical, Nursing and Business Leader.

These service leaders are responsible for all medical, nursing and business personnel within the service.

This service covers all peri-operative and anaesthetic departments across both Tauranga and Whakatane hospitals. This includes the facilities of surgical wards, operating theatres, day stay units, intensive care at Tauranga Hospital and the anaesthetic department.

Surgical specialities include general/vascular, orthopaedics, ORL, urology, dental, plastics and ophthalmology.

Twenty-four hour acute services are accessed via the emergency departments at both hospitals.

Access to elective services is on the basis of referral from General Practitioners or Consultants. For further details click here.
